Unforgiveness

The cost of un-forgiveness is far higher than what most realize. If you do not forgive others, not only can it cause your prayers to be hindered, it can also cause your sins to be un-forgiven, and when the day of the Lord arrives, you will be judged accordingly for those sins.

Matthew 5:22-24
But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother will be liable to the council; and whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be liable to the hell of fire. So if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.

Holding grudges against people hurts you more so than it does them. It will cause you to become bitter and your heart may be hardened for that. It will cause you to be stressed out, worried, anxious, fearful, and angry. These are things that will become like a deadly poison to your body, which will make you physically ill. Spiritually, it will result in doubt or unbelief, lowering your amount of faith, producing a lack of results.

It is important to ask the Lord, continually, to reveal to you any unforgiveness you may be carrying. You will be highly surprised at the things that will come to you. It could easily be things that you had forgotten about. Perhaps when you were a child, a relative may had said something harsh to you which caused you to get angry. That person may not have any idea that anything they’d said or done had ever upset you. Or it could be something that you didnt even know you need forgiveness for. Whatever may be revealed to you though needs to be repented for. Ask the Lord to forgive you for being angry/bitter/jealous, etc., of/ at that person. It does not matter if its something that you did not cause to happen. Saying “but…that wasnt my fault” doesnt ‘cut the mustard’. What matters is that you need to ask for forgiveness for that.

We ALL constantly fall short and fail when it comes to the glory of God. This is one reason Gods grace and mercy are such vital aspects of salvation. He knows that you dont remember every tiny little thing. He knows you are not perfect. But, if you ask for His help, He will give it to you. The Lord does not want to have to pass ill-judgement against anyone. He loves us – unconditionally. He certainly is a just and righteous master, and will judge each and every one of us, but He wants us to realize, that as His children, no matter what our sins have been – if we repent of them – He will forgive us and welcome us into His kingdom for all of eternity.
